Volunteer Board Member Volunteer

Summary: KIDTHINK Children’s Mental Health Inc. is seeking passionate, skilled, and dedicated individuals to join our volunteer Board of Directors. As a volunteer board member, you will play a critical role in guiding the strategic direction of our organization and ensuring its mission, vision, and values are upheld.

Location: Manitoba

Time Commitment: Availability to attend regular meetings and occasional special events. Meetings are held virtually or in-person approximately 10 per year (once per month) for 1-2 hours.

We are seeking individuals with experience or expertise in one or more of the following areas:

  • Finance and Accounting
  • Knowledge of Indigenous ways and culture.
  • Fundraising
  • Knowledge of/or experience with Manitoba rural community mental health services.
  • Non-profit governance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic oversight, governance, and leadership to KIDTHINK.
  • Assist in setting organizational goals and priorities.
  • Oversee financial health, including approving budgets and ensuring accountability.
  • Actively participate in board meetings and contribute to discussions and decision-making.
  • Support fundraising efforts and promote KIDTHINK’ S mission within your networks.
  • Ensure compliance with all legal and ethical standards.
  • Participate in committee work as needed (e.g., fundraising, governance, advocacy).

Intake Coordinator Permanent, Full-Time

POSITION: Intake Coordinator
JOB TYPE: Permanent, Full-Time
LOCATION: Winnipeg, Manitoba
SALARY: $49,715.74 - $70,761.01

ABOUT THE POSITION:

Under the direction of the Administrative Manager, the Intake Coordinator serves as one of the first clinical points of contact for clients at KIDTHINK Children’s Mental Health Clinic Inc. (KIDTHINK). This role assesses client eligibility using standardized screening tools and other relevant information, conducts and coordinates the intake process for referrals, and provides administrative support for intake-related tasks across programs and staff. The Intake Coordinator’s responsibilities align with and support KIDTHINK’s Mission, Vision, and Values.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Preforms in-depth intake processes for referrals including initial referral screening, conducting triage and screening calls with clients to determine service needs, collecting and accurately identifying relevant information based on the client’s representation of information.
  • Assesses appropriateness and eligibility of referrals for Kidthink services.
  • Ensures all appropriate documentation is collected and filed in EMR to complete the client intake process.
  • Connects referrals to external resources or other service providers as needed.
  • Assist clients in completing intakes.
  •  Coordinates intake availability of mental health providers and assigns new cases.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

  • Bachelor’s in Psychology, Social Work, Counselling or other comparable field.
  • Licensed with applicable professional designation.
  • An equivalent combination of training, education and experience may be considered.
  • Training and Certificates in the following are preferred: Emergency First Aid, NVCI and ASIST.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:

  • Knowledge of intake, crisis intervention, creating safety plans, triage, and/or system navigation.
  • Understanding of clinical skills in the mental health assessment and treatment of children as well as their families.
  • Knowledge of mental health conditions and illnesses, including signs, symptoms, treatment, and prognosis of mental illness and emotional distress.
  • Understanding of cultural diversity, including Indigenous perspectives and experiences.
  • Understanding of intervention modalities, including brief treatment, such as cognitive behavioural therapy, dialectical behavioural therapy, and motivational interviewing.
  • Knowledge of The Personal Health Information Act, The Mental Health Act, The Child and Family Services Act, and all other relevant legislation.
  • Understanding of Manitoba’s health and social welfare system.

SKILLS:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with proficiency in English.
  • Demonstrated ability to listen effectively.
  • Strong organizational skills and excel in time management practices.
  • Ability to deal with people in distress, de-escalation skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.

EXPERIENCE

  • Two years of related experience.
  • Working experience in a health care or mental health facility, organization or agency.
  • Experience in mental health intake and triage of clients.
  • Experience in providing basic service consultation to a variety of referral sources.
  • Must have legal eligibility to work in Canada. If the successful applicant possesses a work permit, it is their responsibility to ensure the permit remains valid.

Clinical Psychologist Permanent, Full-Time, EFT Negotiable

POSITION: Clinical Psychologist
JOB TYPE: Permanent, Full-Time (EFT negotiable)
LOCATION: Winnipeg, Manitoba
SALARY: $130,000 - $150,000 and benefits package

This position is an opportunity to be part of a new and exciting children’s mental health clinic. Our Clinical Psychologist will be passionate about the delivery of mental health services to children and their families and committed to being part of an interdisciplinary team with an integrated service model. They will provide individual, family and group evidence-based treatments that are trauma-informed, strength-based, child and family-centered and congruent with best practices. They will also provide psychological assessments, have an openness to training students and collaborating in research, provide consultation to interdisciplinary colleagues and work under the direction of the Clinical Director.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provides a full-range of psychological services, including psychological assessments, individual and group therapy with children and parents.
• Conducts family-based interventions with parents and significant supporting individuals.
• Provides individual and/or group treatment to parents and caregivers for their own mental health issues.
• Collaborates with team members on various mental health promotion and program initiatives.
• Collaborates and consults with KIDTHINK mental health and out-reach clinicians.
• Participates in the development and delivery of workshops and training for external groups including school and daycare staff, other mental health professionals and parents/caregivers.
• Participates in all aspects of the care continuum and the child’s mental health pathway.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from a CPA accredited university.
• Registered or eligible for full registration with the Psychological Association of
Manitoba.
• Demonstrated experience in clinical assessment, diagnosis and
treatment of mental health disorders in children.
• Proficient in the delivery of psychometric tools and their interpretation.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and provide psycho-educational/ skills-based training
programs.
• Ability to provide compassionate and efficient support to children and their families.
• Knowledge and awareness of cultural and socio-economic factors that inform service
provision.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrated ability to establish and
maintain effective working relationships with a wide range of individuals/groups.
• Willingness to adapt to new techniques and best practices.
• Understanding of Manitoba’s health and social welfare system.
